June 2010

Absolutely beautiful day in Ohio. The humidity dropped exponentially overnight.
Just in time for our impending road trip to Kansas: Land of Heat and Humidity.
Ick.
July is not the best time to visit Kansas. Only August is worse.
I blame this trip on my cousin, who’s getting married. Even though we’ve visited Kansas in July more times than [...]

I swear, sometimes I just don’t know what’s wrong with me.
The library is free, right? Unless, of course, you don’t return your books on time? (Or at all?)
And yes, I do get email notices telling me that I have some items that are coming due. And are overdue. And This is the Final Notice and [...]

Riding bikes is great frugal fun for the whole family!  Once you’ve accounted for the cost of the bikes, of course…
John recently posted this ad on craigslist:

This is a mountain bike as described made by Concord.  My lovely and insufferably cute wife likes to run [...]

I’ve been consumed with laundry, yard work, showings, friends, and… Life!

If Olivia and Peter’s swimming lessons were outdoors, I’d wager about half of the sessions would have been rained out by now.
You ever have the feeling that the summer is almost over when it’s just begun? Seasoned parents know that we need to be on the ball with planning out programs and trips or they [...]

I recently* received this question from Michele in Norfolk, Virginia:
We also are military. We just received housing on Little Creek NAB [Naval Air Base] in VA. The lease is for 6 months then month to month. During this time we would like to look for a house and possibly buy a home. It [...]

Hmm… Mid-June and I’m finally ready to talk about May? Yea. It’s been a few of those weeks.
Debt Update
Not very exciting. We’re in minimum mode right now. As in, just making minimum payments. Our debt snowball is just sitting there, in limbo. Waiting for a couple of major life changes (aka Selling a house and [...]

Flowers make me happy.

by jolyn on June 9, 2010

in Kids' Expenses

I thought they might make the teachers happy, too. So these flowers became their gift from us this year.
I was immediately drawn in by their vibrancy. It was just lucky happenstance that the price was right, too: $16.35 for all four.
I didn’t get anything for the bus drivers this time. I felt a little bad [...]
